NothingSpecial
philosophyWhen you experience things that you enjoy -- such as good food, health, wealth, family, a beautiful vista, or cold ice cream on a hot beach -- it is sometimes accompanied by a feeling of "This Is Special."
But when you observe "This Is Special" itself, do you find that "This Is Special" is itself a special feeling? Or is it ordinary?
If the feeling of "This Is Special" really is special, then why is it special? Does it even make any sense to say that specialness is special?
But if you admit that "This Is Special" is not a special feeling, then can anything be called special at all? Does specialness lose its magic?
Maybe, when you examine the feeling of "This Is Special," it might slowly becomes clear that the feeling of "This Is Special" is nothing special in and of itself. The feeling comes and goes, like all other feelings. It's just another wave on the ocean of the mind. It's just another experience that arises in the mind. And so, the feeling of "This Is Special" itself is nothing special.
And what a relief that is.
